What are the different types of life insurance?
There are several different types of life insurance policies available and most fall under two main categories: term life insurance and permanent life insurance. Take a look at some different types to see which might be the best coverage for you.
Term life insurance – This is the most affordable type of life insurance and lasts a set period of time (called a term) before it expires. This allows you to choose how long you want to be covered. Terms start at 10 years.
Permanent life insurance – Permanent life insurance represents a category of several types of life insurance that offer coverage for your entire lifetime. This type is typically more expensive than term life insurance.
Universal life insurance – Universal life insurance provides lifetime coverage and can be used as a savings account. This type of insurance often runs higher in cost.
Whole life insurance – Whole life insurance is a type of permanent life insurance, which provides a set amount of coverage with a set premium for as long as you live.
Final expense insurance– Also known as burial insurance, final expense insurance helps cover your end-of-life costs, including funeral expenses, medical bills and any other debt you don’t want to pass on to your family.
